Disability

Disability coverage replaces part of your income if you can’t work because you are sick, have a baby, need surgery or get hurt while away from work.

Your benefit details

Frontdoor provides Short-Term Disability (STD) benefits at no cost after six months of employment. You can buy Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage for additional protection after six months of employment.

  • Short-Term Disability

Frontdoor provides short-term disability to full-time associates at no cost after six months of employment.

For illness-related claims, benefits begin after a seven-day waiting period following claim submission. Benefits may begin sooner for accidents or childbirth.

    • Six months – five years of employment: covered at 60% of your annual earnings
    • Five years or more: covered at 80% of annual earnings

There is a maximum weekly benefit of $15,000 and short-term disability pays out up to a maximum of 13 weeks.

    Pre-existing condition exclusions may apply.

  • Long-Term Disability*

Full-time associates are automatically enrolled after six-months of service at 50% of earnings coverage. You have three options:

    • Waive LTD coverage
    • Remain in the auto-enrolled 50% coverage level
    • Increase your benefit amount to 60% of your monthly earnings

Be aware that LTD has a maximum benefit of $15,000 per month.

If you enroll after your introductory period (at 6 months after hire), you will need to complete a health questionnaire for eligibility.

* If you submit a claim, there is a ninety-eight-day waiting period from your initial start date of illness or injury to access the benefit. Pre-existing condition exclusions may apply.
